2006’s Obsesions…

The year started with a love of Matt Nathanson’s Beneath These Fireworks – a fantastically laid back singer/songwriter thing, but sooo much cooler than James Blunt :-p
The Goo Goo Dolls’ new album, Let Love In continues the rockers’ great repetoire.
John Mayer continues to be an absolute musical God with Continuum, one of the year’s best albums, without a doubt.
Yet another American, Kyle Riabko appeared on my radar with some very funky jazz/blues in Before I Speak.
Teddy Geiger dominated the latter half of my summer term, with his slightly cheesy album full of very pleasant easy-to-listen-to pop-rock with some lovely guitar riffs here and there.
Jason Mraz is another God and got a lot of listening, especially earlier in the year.
Paolo Nutini broke the mould for me by being a top-50 artist whose album I love – he will be the first name here many of you will recognise I guess…
And yes, I admit it. The absolute cheese that is the High School Musical soundtrack is on my iPod after a certain housemate of mine got hold of it. Uber-cheesy it may be, but I’ll be damned if it isn’t the catchiest CD I’ve listened to all year. Oh the shame…!
