Here comes the third and final part of my series of posts about 10 days of intensive gig attendance I undertook at the end of last month. (Part 1 here and part 2 here). My friend Sarah and I went to see Jason Mraz at The Junction in Cambridge. OK, so the title is a bit misleading – Jason’s music is not exactly funk. But there’s definitely elements of funk, and I find Jason Mraz hard to categorise.

You’ve probably never heard of Jason Mraz (at least if you’re reading in the UK), though he’s aiming to change that soon I think. For the uninitiated, he’s an avocado farmer in California. Read the rest of this entry »

Phew, I’m still alive. (Confused? Read this.) So I shall continue with my trilogy of gig posts (part 1 here and part 3 here) and tell you about my recent trip to see Bon Jovi. This one wasn’t in such a glamorous location as the John Mayer gig, but Twickenham Stadium was nonetheless impressive, packing in well over 50,000 people.

Occasionally on my blog I post some drivel about what music I’m listening to at the moment, but I always feel that these posts are a little rubbish. Therefore I came up with the idea of producing some top-10 style guides to my favourite artists, particularly those of whom you may not have heard. So we begin with the great Jason Mraz. I’ve put together 10 of my favourite tracks as an iTunes iMix, which you can see below. I’ve recently been getting into his new(est) album, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. and particularly the tracks Butterfly and Coyotes. I’ve mixed these with tracks from Mr A-Z, the first Jason Mraz album I owned (after a 2am iTunes shopping spree) and Waiting For My Rocket To Come, his first album. Read the rest of this entry »
