A while ago, I quietly added a plugin to my Wordpress installation that presented a specialised interface for blog.depomerai.com when viewed on the iPhone or iPod touch. Nice as it was, it had big limitations such as the ability to view pages and photos, search the content or to switch back to regular view if required. I recently found a new plugin, WPTouch, which does the same job, only better. After a couple of hours of hacking CSS so that my photo galleries worked, images in posts looked OK and so on, I’ve rolled it out. So those of you with an iPhone or iPod touch can now browse the site in a very lovely interface straight from your device with no need to zoom and so on. Or, if you just love that pinch motion so much, you can switch to the regular view and see the site in all its glory. Enjoy!

These days I use a frightening array of Apple products. Every weekday I use an iPhone, an iMac, a Mac Mini and usually a MacBook. Occasionally at work I have the misfortune to use a Windows PC, and once in a while I have to use a computer which doesn’t know who I am. Hoping to address this sort of problem, Apple announced Mobile Me at their WWDC conference earlier this week. Let’s get the trivial stuff out of the way first. Yes, it’s a pretty rubbish name, and some have described the logo as Apple’s worst ever. But what interests me is how it can help my life by reducing the complexity of accessing my information anywhere. Read the rest of this entry »
